Day 1: Arrival & Exploring the French Quarter
Morning: Arrive in Pondicherry (by road, train, or flight via Chennai). Check in to your hotel or guesthouse.
Late Morning: Start your exploration with a visit to the French Quarter (White Town).
Walk along the charming French colonial streets, with vibrant buildings, colorful houses, and quaint cafes.
Visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, an important spiritual center. The ashram is dedicated to the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and is peaceful and serene.
Lunch: Enjoy French-inspired cuisine at one of the cafes in the French Quarter, such as Café des Arts or La Café.
Afternoon: Visit the Manakula Vinayagar Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, known for its stunning architecture and vibrant culture.
Take a stroll along Promenade Beach, a beautiful beach stretch with a scenic view of the sea. You can visit the Gandhi Statue and enjoy the calm atmosphere.
Evening: Visit Auroville, an international township located about 10 km from Pondicherry. It’s dedicated to human unity and is known for the Matrimandir, a meditation center with an impressive golden dome.
If you arrive in the evening, you can enjoy the peaceful ambiance and walk around the vibrant township.
Dinner: Head back to the city and dine at a popular restaurant like Villa Shanti or The Promenade for a mix of local and international flavors.
Day 2: Beaches & Culture
Morning: Start the day with a visit to Paradise Beach, one of the most famous and beautiful beaches in Pondicherry. You can take a boat ride to reach the beach or walk down from the nearby jetty.
Spend time relaxing on the pristine sand, swimming, or enjoying water sports.
Late Morning: After a relaxing time at the beach, head to Auroville Beach to enjoy its tranquil atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.
Lunch: Have a meal at Le Café (a popular beachside café) or The Baker’s Street (famous for delicious pastries and European-style lunch options).
Afternoon: Visit the Puducherry Museum and Raj Niwas (the Governor’s residence), both showcasing colonial history and local heritage.
Head to Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an architectural marvel with stunning stained-glass windows and intricate designs.
Evening: Explore the bustling Beach Road for some shopping, and pick up local handicrafts, souvenirs, and apparel.
You can also take a leisurely walk along Chunnambar Boat House, located just a short drive from Pondicherry. It’s ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature.

Day 3: Day Trips & Departure
Morning: Visit Chidambaram, a town about 2 hours away from Pondicherry, known for the famous Nataraja Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is an architectural masterpiece and one of the most important pilgrimage spots in Tamil Nadu.
Alternatively, you can head to Karaikal (about 1.5 hours away), a coastal town known for its beaches, temples, and French colonial architecture.
Lunch: Have lunch at a local restaurant in Chidambaram or Karaikal.
Afternoon: If you're back in Pondicherry by afternoon, visit Botanical Garden, which is known for its wide variety of plant species and relaxing atmosphere.
Evening: Before departure, enjoy a peaceful walk along the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health and then head to Goubert Market for some last-minute shopping and local interactions.
Departure: Depending on your travel schedule, head back to your hotel to check out and leave for your onward journey.
